Legislative Priorities

Legislation proposed by the Vermont Association of REALTORS® is reviewed and endorsed by the VAR Governmental Affairs Committee prior to presentation to the Board of Directors. When reviewing proposed legislation, the Governmental Affairs Committee considers its impact on the purpose, goals and overall direction of VAR and its membership and shall use strong judgment that follows the guidelines and policies of the association.

The Governmental Affairs Committee is charged with representing the best interest of VAR and its membership, and the public's right to own and sell property. During legislative session, the committee exercises its authority to take positions on legislation on behalf of the association, so long as the position is consistent with the policies adopted by the VAR Board of Directors.
