Instructor Resources
The Vermont Association of REALTORS® (VAR) strives to provide Vermont real estate brokers, salespeople, appraisers, and home inspectors with a wide array of course offerings. Consequently, VAR continuously seeks qualified instructors (see definition below) to develop and teach courses on an exclusive basis.
While VAR accepts proposals for courses on all real estate and appraisal-related topics, our attendees show preference toward courses approved for continuing education (CE) credits. Therefore, all proposals will first be carefully reviewed against the Vermont Real Estate Commission's and the Vermont Board of Appraisers' education policies, which include lists of acceptable and unacceptable courses, to determine the likelihood of approval. If proposed courses do not meet the Vermont Real Estate Commission or the Vermont Board of Appraisers criteria, further consideration will need to be given to determine the level of interest of our attendees in the subject matter.

Definition of Qualified Instructor
While the Vermont Real Estate Commission or the Vermont Board of Appraisers ultimately decides whether or not an instructor is qualified to teach a specific course, VAR seeks instructors that meet one or more of these criteria: (1) brokers licensed and practicing in Vermont for at least the past five years with specific topic expertise (2) real estate attorneys practicing in Vermont for at least the past five years with general or specific topic expertise (3) professional instructors with expertise/training in real estate or appraisal-related topics with a minimum of five years experience and/or (4) Vermont appraiser certified for at least the past five years and/or a professional trainer certified by the Appraisal Foundation.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When an instructor is approved by the Vermont Real Estate Commission or Vermont Board of Appraisers, he or she is approved only to instruct the course described in the application and for the provider who submitted it; instructors should not assume they are approved to teach any course or that they can teach the approved course for any provider or independent from the provider that obtained the course approval.
