Licensing Renewal Requirements

Salesperson Licensing Renewal
Real estate sales agents are required to renew their real estate license every 2 years. Renewal date for all sales agents is May 31 on all even years. Renewal notices are distributed by the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation in the spring prior to the renewal date.

Sales agents must earn 16 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years, including the 4-hour Mandatory Course for that 2-year cycle.

An individual licensed for less than one year (from the original licensing issue date to the current expiration date) must only complete the 4-hour Mandatory Course.

Broker Licensing Renewal
Real estate brokers are required to renew their license every 2 years. Renewal date for brokers is March 31 in even numbered years. Renewal notices are distributed by the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation in the spring prior to the renewal date.

Brokers must earn 16 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years, including the 4-hour Mandatory Course for that 2-year cycle.
