REALTORŪ Relief Foundation

REALTORS® come to the aid of Tropical Storm
Irene victims

On September 12, 2001, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) developed the REALTOR® Relief Foundation (RRF) in response to the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11. Since that time, RRF has funded millions of dollars in recovery efforts in the U.S. and its territories.

In the past year, many areas of our nation have experienced catastrophic natural disasters. NAR’s REALTOR® Relief Foundation has provided financial relief to thousands of victims in these hard-hit areas. In an effort to assist victims of Tropical Storm Irene, RRF has established a quadrilateral agreement with Vermont, New York, New Jersey and North Carolina. These state REALTOR® associations will work collaboratively to raise and distribute funds to those affected by this tragic event. RRF has donated $75,000 to this fund. These funds, along with funds raised by each state, will be used to assist with mortgage payments and temporary housing.

The Vermont Association of REALTORS® (VAR) has established an in-state RRF Board, comprised of REALTOR® members. This board will be responsible for reviewing all Vermont applications for assistance. Once approved by the Vermont RRF board, the application will be forwarded to NAR for review.

You can help us make a difference in the lives of those affected by Tropical Storm Irene. We encourage you to reach out to your local board membership and urge them to make a contribution to the RRF. Monies donated to this quadrilateral effort will be earmarked to assist in the participating states. The RRF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations to the Foundation are deductible for tax purposes.

We all know that REALTORS® make a difference in their communities. What better opportunity for your REALTOR® members to reach out to their neighbors and friends and offer much-needed assistance.
