Vermont Residential Building Energy Standards

This course covers the history of the Vermont Building Energy Standards (RPES), explains which buildings and projects must comply with RBES, and what is exempt, who is responsible for compliance, and RBES technical requirements. The class will briefly cover basic heat transfer and interior moisture control to provide understanding of energy code requirements. The course will include a summary of the U.S. EPA Energy Star® Home program and Efficiency Vermont' services for new and existing homes and how they relate to RBES.



ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jeff Gebhart is a Vermont certified Advanced Energy Auditor and president and co-founder of Vermont-Wise Energy Services in Rochester, VT. He works with Efficiency Vermont on the implementation of services performed for Vermont Energy Star® Homes. Jeff speaks around the state to professional associations and educational institutions about energy-efficiency and sustainable construction design and practice.
